Towns and Villages

The list below indicates which towns and villages elements of the Convention Army likely or are known to have passed through on the march from Saratoga, New York to Cambridge and Somerville (then part of Charlestown), Massachusetts in 1777.

Above, visitors to West Brookfield's 2022 "White Christmas" celebration ride in a horse drawn wagon.  Once part of Brookfield, this area is near the start of the common route taken by Burgoyne and the Convention Army after following separate paths out of the Hudson River Valley, through the Berkshires and across the Connecticut River.  Here and there along the way structures present in 1777 still stand, in addition to the later building and homes, such as the Federal period house on the right.
